How to Play Disney Lorcana

Disney Lorcana is a two-player trading card game where you play characters, songs and items, build your ink resources and race to be the first player to reach 20 lore.

Objective

You win by reaching 20 lore before your opponent. Most of the time you gain lore by sending your characters on quests, though some cards also create lore through effects.

Setup

Shuffle your deck and draw 7 cards. During the game, you place inkable cards into your inkwell to build the resource you use to play cards. Choosing which cards become ink is one of the game's core decisions.

Turn Structure

At the start of your turn you ready your cards, set your lore total, draw a card and then play your turn. You can usually place 1 card into your inkwell, play characters, items and actions, challenge opposing characters or send your own characters on quests for lore.

Questing And Challenging

Characters can quest to gain lore or challenge opposing exerted characters to remove them from the board. Deciding whether to pressure lore or fight for board control is one of the most important choices in Lorcana.

Beginner Tips

Start with a deck that has a clear plan and pay close attention to which cards are inkable. Try to keep a smooth curve of costs, quest whenever it is safe and only trade characters when the board fight is worth it.
